Navigating Vocab.com
Here's a spot to share insights on some details new players might want to know,

To start off with, find words to master on this page, vocab.com/words/a
replace "a" with letter of your choice.

I personally find this important as I myself learnt it recently.

Another cool thing would be leaderboards!

It's pretty easy but for example, let's look at the page below:
https://www.vocabulary.com/leaderboards/2024-03/S100/

For the first one, replace "2024-03" with any date you want to and check out the stats and streaks. You can replace "S100" with "S5"(5 in a rows), "S10"(10 in a rows), "S15", "S20", "S25", "S50", "S100".

Dont wanna check out streaks anymore? Np, just delete the "/2024-03/S100" section, and it'll take you to the leaderboards, which will allow you to "time travel" up until, I believe...

https://www.vocabulary.com/leaderboards/2015-09/

I wonder what happened before then, as Hakhut already had at least Czar 1 star by that point.
On a related side note, there's a Google webstore extension that's designed for vocabulary.com

You'll find it here: https://g.co/kgs/CtsNpSL

I honestly think the site is useful for speeding up the process for learning words, and I strongly believe the admins don't mind players using it.

Ever since you changed the link that you had on your profile, the site's now dead, its a shame, this was an amazing site
Hmm, correlation does not equal causation 🤓☝

that said, I think you might have a point, I assume most people are taking a break of some sort,  although in all honesty as this new link is blocked for me, its possible that many vocab.com players are people in a school with restrictive digital policies like me. I'll revert back to the original link and see what's next.

Btw since this subforum is for sharing tips for new vocab.com players, guess what folks? I just discovered vocabgrabber, vocab.com dictionary is neat w its pictures and all, but I'm tired of clicking Ctrl c and clicking words to open a new tab and learn the words, now in one magic click of Ctrl v (paste) you can now study words as you wish

Alas I'm dirt broke, but I highly recommend subscribing to anyone either really into vocab.com or into English in general: https://www.visualthesaurus.com/vocabgrabber/

meanwhile, after checking out sites like this: https://chautaari.com/free-online-tools-build-vocabulary/

I have come to learn other really neat sites, such as this: https://www.lexipedia.com/english/back

search up any word you wish and as vocabgrabber it will show connections to other related words, its spectacular, offering very detailed explanations of the word, i'm not sponsoring any of these websites or anything, I find them (and you might) powerful for both game usage and personal enrichment.

You can also check any achievement's leaderboard, not only streaks. Just replace the "S100" in https://www.vocabulary.com/leaderboards/2024-03/S100/ with:

- DSTK1 (1 day streak, choose from 1 to 7)
- MA (Mastered an A word, choose from A to Z)
- L01 (Level 01, choose from 01 (Novice) to 20 (Word Czar))
- M5 (5 words mastered, from 5 to 10k (type "1K" - capital K))
- JL (Leader of the jam)
- JWT (Winning team)
- JTL (Jam team leader)

Additionally, you can add PRND, which is for Perfect Rounds.
That's cool af!! Jam has leaderboards?? You can't convince me you're not of the game admins lol
Vocab used to also have this kind of stuff, with a recap of all achievements for a certain period of time (like the leaderboards but for all achievements): https://www.vocabulary.com/leaderboards/achievements/thisweek/. You can find snapshots of that before it was taken away here: https://web.archive.org/web/20181221194738/https://www.vocabulary.com/leaderboards/achievements/thisweek/
Kind wish they still had that. You know why they removed it?
According to them, it's because there hadn't enough storage space on their servers, this is also the reason why they removed the "About Me" section.
Just realized that clicking on a word and hearing the word as you can see in the below really helps to learn it, you can choose either American accent, Bri-ish accent or both, personally, American accent is preferred as I live in America.

If you have an HP/Chromebook/Windows device like mine, pressing Shift and the Search bar (looks like a magnifier glass) will open the word definitions in a new window, now you won't need to keep pressing alt-left arrow (to go back) and wait for browser to load.

Fun fact: If you wanna save time, ignore the written parts of the word, for example, click on defrock speaker and hear the word, ignore the whole "defrock comes from... defrocked coach.". Only ignore if you wanna speed up the process, if you're indifferent and time isn't a constraint, read away :) But if it is, just quickly read definitions of defrock

if anyone is yet confused lemme know and i'll see if I can make time to post a video link of what I'm talking about.

Oh and spelling bees are awful. Change my View.
Hey everyone, I’m new to Vocab and I'm thrilled to join this amazing community! I’m eager to dive deep and become a serious player here. Can anyone share some pro tips to help me level up my game? I’ve been inspired by Run Run Rambutan’s epic journey – and yeah, his name cracks me up too! Thanks in advance!

at least all the pro's will help you
I think I count as a pro since I have all the lists fully mastered
I would define "pro" as having less than 1500 hours spent at 100M points (and > 96% accuracy).
I've got just 96% accuracy and with 1250 hours and 81 million points, I can definitely reach czar before 1500 hours, my point is, I feel like your definition of a pro is too loose, maybe 1000 hours for 100 million points with >97% accuracy
Yeah, but I'm not pro either then. I believe we should apply what you suggested to the most recent 100 million points earned by the player (if they have >100M).
It had now come to my attention that this seemingly deliberate expurgation viewing your question history on the secondary column on the dictionary of any given learnable word was indeed NOT intentional, but rather a bizarre glitch that inexplicable removed one's ability to not just view them, but also even set your priority (Auto, High, & Low) for them either, so I'd hope we see the return to normalcy by the end of the week; the following example to showcase that even mastered words deny you this aforementioned 'query archive':

YAY OMG I HATED THAT I COULDNT SEE MY PROGRESS ON ANY WORDS THANK GOODNESS
Thinker I agree, alas, I wouldn't even count as a pro under the agreed conditions.
